Are you a Quality Manager with a Metallurgical/Materials Engineering background or a Metallurgist with Quality Management experience looking for an opportunity to grow?  Based at our South Milwaukee, WI facility, you will be responsible for all quality management and metallurgy of the cast products produced, with use of internal & external labs, design engineers and other supporting managers/supervisors.  Mentoring and guidance from retiring quality manager / metallurgical engineer.  Relocation assistance is available for this opportunity! 

AS THE QUALITY MANAGER / METALLURGICAL ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Manage quality control programs/procedures and documentations.
  • Provide direction on melt charge recipes and raw material requirements.
  • Assist in reviewing, evaluating and correcting issues with nonconforming material.
  • Assist with customer and vendor concerns.
  • Work with design engineers on new products and processing.
  • Provide input on process changes and assist production in establishing process controls.
  • Work with internal and external labs for controls and certifications.
  • Use Six Sigma and/or other quality tools including, Statistical Analysis, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, and 8D methodology to ensure the identification of quality failure concerns and corrective actions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • 3 + years of Metallurgical/Materials Engineering experience
  • 3 + years of Quality Management participation in a manufacturing setting
  • Front-end metallurgy (raw materials knowledge/management/selection and developing melt recipes)
  • 2 + years of Leadership in a supervisory or manager role
  • Green sand cast molding experience
  • Strong foundry background and QC experience
  • Strong Understanding of manufacturing and quality control processes
  • Solid math background
  • Advanced Excel skillset
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • Familiar with ISO and other quality system standards
  • Foundry & green sand-casting experience
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods/techniques

More detail about the role, this candidate will have direct reports: the supervisor of the lab and testers (4 total, 2 on day shift and 2 on second shift) First shift – 7-4ish- they can be flexible there. Second shift: 2:15pm-(staggered) shift starts – they start 2nd shift at 2:15 and stagger it. They are working with class 25 gray and 65-45-12 ductile irons.
